Specialist Lining Services were asked to carry out refurbishment of some steel transfer pipes that had severe corrosion. The pipes were grit blasted to remove the corrosion and provide a surface profile for the Epoxy Coating to adhere to. A Mastic Epoxy was chosen for it’s excellent adhesion and anti-corrosion properties. The Steel Pipes were coated with three coats, two coats of Bronze followed by a final coat of Aluminium Epoxy to give that extra protection from the water vapour released from the tank below. The finished coating was a normal thickness of 400 microns and will protect the steelwork from further corrosion for many years to come, much to our customers satisfaction.
