Epoxy Tank Lining to Refurbish 30 Year old Storage Tank
This tank was in very good condition considering the age. It had been used for diesel storage for 30 years prior to this which may be the reason! The tank was thoroughly cleaned and degreased by another contractor prior to our arrival. As the vessel was in good condition, we decided that an epoxy tank lining system would be the most suited to protect the tanks internals. The system was Interline 984 at 800 microns.
Works internally were carried out using mobile towers from which the frames were passed through the roof. The storage tank was blasted to sa2.5 only to find during the blasting that the original tank welder had decided to strike off on the panels. This can be seen in the attached images. As a result, we had a fair amount of grinding to do before re-blasting the ground out areas. The tank was then epoxy lined using what is in our opinion the best epoxy lining we have applied, namely interline 984. This was applied at a DFT of 800 microns followed by a holiday test using the elcometer 266 porosity checker. This system is warranted for 15 years.
