Installation of A 10 Year Anti-Corrosion External Tank Coating
A vertical tank in Norfolk was in need of some much needed TLC. SLS installed a 10 year anti-corrosion guaranteed, external tank coating system.
The tank was located right next to an estuary which had undoubtedly been the primary cause of the high level of corrosion found. The tank was hot detergent washed to remove all loose paint & salts from the current coating system. Intact areas were prepared to ST2 standards and areas of corrosion were prepared to ST3. Areas where de-lamination had occurred were feathered in using orbital sanders. Once prepared, a coat of Interseal 670 HS was applied as a primer coat, interzone 954 as a mid-coat, and then finished in Interthane 990 at a total DFT of 350 Microns.
