Potable Water Tank Lining

A potable water tank lining was leaking in several places. Due to this being in a roof space, the water was leaking through to the building below.

Specialist Lining Services by Eurotank were asked to re-line the potable water storage tank.

On our initial survey we searched for the initial cause of the leaks.

Each corner had cracks evident which were allowing water to pass through.

The tank was suffering osmosis to the original tank mould.

This was due to poor workmanship and insufficient curing, as well as the wrong choice of resin for the application.

The tank was thoroughly prepared using handheld grinders and sandpaper to remove the wax sheen of the gel coat. This would help to create adhesion with the new lining.

Using potable water resistant resin, the tank was lined with 2 layers of 600csm around the base. This was followed by a further layer of 600csm matting and surface veil.

A further coat of pigmented resin was applied and allowed to dry. This was finely sanded to remove any irregularities, followed by an isophthalic gel coat to finish. The tank was left for a further 7 days to allow full cure before re-use.
