Wash Down Booth GRP Lining

Repair of a Leaking Wash Down Booth

A powder coating wash down booth was leaking out of the seams of the steel floor due to corrosion. SLS were called into to come up with a solution that would last! The Booth was submerged in water that contained diluted phosphorus. Consequently, the lining would need to be resistant to both the chemical and of course corrosion. A wash down booth GRP lining installation was the solution.

The client at survey stage requested that we create an angled step to make cleaning the booth a lot easier. The booth was first manually prepared using hand-held grinders. Then using a kiln-dried/resin mix we created a 45-degree step and left to cure. SLS operatives applied 2 layers of 450csm matting embedded in vinyl ester resin to the entire floor area and allowed to dry. Once dried, SLS operatives sanded the entire bunded booth for any imperfections before applying two further coats of Vinyl Ester. The last layer contained wax in styrene to aid with the curing process.
