GRP LINING PROCESS

Application of SLS GRP 1.2mm System

Want to know what goes into A Fibreglass GRP Lining Process? Well look no further. The process is very labour Intensive but the creation and finsihed article always looks great and it lasts. Yes Butyl is much cheaper but it lacks the quality and life expectancy that fibreglass does.

grp lining process

Prepared Substrate – This will be prepared using grinders/blasting to remove loose material and provide an etch. it will then be swept clean in preparation for the next stage.

Resin Primed – Using rollers and brushes, operatives will apply a thin coat of resin to the entire surface requiring GRP lining.

Chopped Strand Matt (450CSM) x2 – This will be applied by rollers and finished with bristle rollers to ensure complete resin coverage. This stage occurs at the same time as the next stage.

Surface Veil – This is applied directly over the top of the web chopped strand matting and enbedded in to give a smooth appearance and cover up any strands in the matting.

Resin Wash – Once the GRP matting and surface veil has gone off, operatives will apply a resin wash to the entire layup. This fills up any pinholes in the lining system. It also contains pigment which helps with the colouring of the final coat.

Flow Coat – The final coat is a finish coat. It is microporous and thus not for sealing purposes. It offers a smooth finish and bonds to the laminate.
